Wanting to make the most of your time at the gym, or feeling a bit unsure about things? This session is the perfect beginners tutorial. We run through safety, how to create a basic workout program, equipment usage and Q & A’s. This is free for all gym members and will be confirmed weekly for availability. Thursday Seminars & Workshops Exercise, Nutrition, Lifestyle Learn from the experts - join us for our informative 45 minute workshops. Running on a regular basis, all topics are advertised on Facebook and cover an extensive range of disciplines within exercise, nutrition and lifestyle management. Free of charge for all gym members and koha donation for non-members. Saturday Sprint Workouts This is session is a great chance for members and their families to join us for an informal off-site stair sprint at Massey University. 90 steps of challenging ascent, 30 minutes of speed! Alternatively, when weather does not permit outdoors adventure, we venture back to the SmallWonders facility for a 30-minute cross-training challenge workout. These workouts are advertised on Facebook weekly. Posture Health (Tuesday 5.30pm – 6:15pm) Not an ordinary class. This class is aimed at those who desire re-balancing of the nervous system (reducing stress and inflammation), and wish to improve postural strength. Combinations of Tai Chi, Yoga and Postural strengthening movements. Qi-Gong (Tuesday 6.30am – 7am) Qi-Gong (translation: life force energy cultivation) is a method developed centuries ago in China for health and long life. The focus is on helping you learn how to access your Qi and use it to more effectively manage daily challenges and functions. The main principles include breathing, relaxation, alignment, and minimal movement designed to circulate Qi through the body. Some forms focus on specific parts of the body or a specific organ system. Mobility Class (Friday 6:30am- 7:15am) This class has been specifically designed to improve the way you move and feel in your body. It will give you the tools to live a more “Mobile” life, so that you can move efficiently and with less pain. If you’re an athlete, athletic or you’re suffering from pains and restrictions/imbalances, this class will help you up your joint integrity and increase the range of motion of your joints, muscles, and fascia. The strength components focus on making you strong and stable. Kid’s Mobility Class (ages 7 - 11 & 11 - 15) This class has been specifically designed to improve the way your child moves and feels in their body. They will gain strength, flexibility, coordination and balance, while also building good posture awareness. The class is a combination of fun movements, including yoga, swiss ball workouts, gymnastics, Tai Chi, free movement (jumps, rolls and wrestling) and spinal posture exercises.
